Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a national leader in the American Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 60s. He fought against racism and segregation using peaceful, non-violent resistance. His marches, speeches, and moral courage helped end discriminatory laws in the United States. His famous “I Have a Dream” speech called for a world of equality, dignity, and unity for all people.
