This week’s spotlight on the FDNY’s most historic firehouses takes us to Little Italy in Manhattan for a tour of Engine Company 55. Originally established on June 4, 1887, at 185 Lafayette Street, the company relocated to its current home in 1899. The building reflects a transition from the Romanesque Revival style to the more decorative Beaux Arts style, both of which were popular in the late 1800s. | New York City Fire Department (FDNY)
