SULLY’S DIAGNOSIS: We see questions all the time that ask things along the lines of “how does a baby have kidney disease?” Our son was diagnosed with a rare condition called “posterior urethral valves,” that ultimately led to his failing kidneys. This conditions in any form, occurs in about 1 in 8,000 to 1 in 25,000 cases. However, for an infant to need dialysis so young it’s more of a one in a million type condition—in other words Sully’s case is on the more severe side. This is a hard conditio
