That lake ice is snow joke! Last month the U.S. Coast Guard cutters Bristol Bay (WTGB 102) and Neah Bay (WTGB 105), along with the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Samuel Risley, broke the freighter Manitoulin free from the ice, allowing the ship to continue its travels. The U.S. Coast Guard continues to conduct icebreaking missions throughout the Great Lakes to ensure maritime safety and protect our nation’s maritime transportation system.
