On this date in 1977, ELVIS COSTELLO released his debut studio album, MY AIM IS TRUE (Jul 22, 1977) Recorded at Pathway Studios in Islington, London, over a series of six four-hour sessions from late 1976 to early 1977, the album was produced by Nick Lowe and featured the American country rock act Clover as the uncredited backing band. At the time of recording, Costello was still known as Declan MacManus and working as a data entry clerk at Elizabeth Arden. He would call in sick to his day job,
