When I got to the advanced setting I noted that the new account I mentioned creating above was once again changed, and the extraneous period at the end of pop3.comcast.net was back again. In addition the port had been changed to 110 instead of 995.

I don’t know what it was, but it must’ve been something on their end because they kept doing things and telling me to try things and eventually got all three of my email addresses working.
