The National Hurricane Center (NHC) says a tropical or subtropical depression could form near the southeastern United States later today or over the weekend.

Barry, the second named storm of this year's Atlantic hurricane season, became a tropical depression by Sunday night, when it made landfall shortly before 11 p.m. ET. It made landfall over Mexico's east coast about 15 miles south-southeast of Tampico, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Tropical Depression Two has formed off the east coast of Mexico and could become Tropical Storm Barry sometime on Sunday. The storm system became better organized as it moved into the Bay of Campeche on June 28,
