Rescuers and residents resumed searching on Tuesday for survivors as the death toll from five days of torrential rain rose to almost 400, with authorities warning monsoon downpours would continue until the weekend.

With villages swept away and Pakistan’s largest city assailed by monsoon floods, climate change has brought a catastrophic new normal to the country.

According to Dawn, citing the KP Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least 225 deaths occurred in Buner district alone, while over 180 others have been injured since Friday.
