Kentucky Fried Chicken announced its "comeback" era with a new menu item and a promotion that could get you free chicken.

A motorcyclist was punched outside a KFC in Derby while trying to stop two men from stealing his bike, police have said. The man's Yamaha was parked outside the restaurant in Wyvernside at about 15:45 BST on 4 July when he saw two men pushing it away.

Dave & Buster’s Entertainment (PLAY) said on Tuesday that it has named former Yum Brands (YUM) Tarun Lal as its new chief executive officer and as a member of the board of directors, effective July 14.

KFC's new Fried Pickles take "golden-fried dill pickle slices that are the perfect crispy bite" and pair them with the brand’s signature "Comeback Sauce" or ranch. They'll be on the menu alongside fan-favorite $7 Fill Ups at participating locations for a limited time, while supplies last.

The company will leverage the financial strength of U.S. investment firm Carlyle Group, which bought KFC Japan last year. The food chain plans to open a spree of outlets in the three major urban areas of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, places where it previously had a weak presence.

Facing competition from both established brands and upstarts like Dave’s Hot Chicken, the Yum Brands-owned chain is leaning into its origin story. KFC is calling Colonel Sanders back into service as the ailing restaurant brand navigates what it calls a “Kentucky Fried comeback.
