Righthander Greg Weissert allowed a tying home run to Dane Myers and lefthander Steven Matz gave up the go-ahead shot to Jakob Marsee in a brutal late-inning sequence set up by the goings-on from the day before.

The Boston Red Sox have a bullpen problem. Several of their relievers besides veteran closer Aroldis Chapman (4-2, 1.15 ERA) have struggled over the last couple of games, and they're paying the price for it in the standings.

The Red Sox may see some relief help arriving soon in the form of Justin Slaten, who is ramping up after being out since June 1 with a shoulder/neck injury. He threw his third bullpen on Friday and is scheduled for a live batting practice session on Monday. If all goes well, his next step would be another live BP or a rehab assignment.

Eaton won’t be able to help out the bullpen, of course, which has looked shaky for two games in a row. First it was Isaiah Campbell on Saturday, whose poor performance forced Alex Cora to call on Aroldis Chapman, then it was Greg Weissert yesterday. (Christopher Smith, MassLive)
