A tropical disturbance that made its way from Florida is now over the northern Gulf and is expected to bring heavy rain and flash flooding to the region on Thursday and Friday. The NOAA's National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported Thursday that the associated shower and thunderstorm activity remained disorganized and located mainly to the west and southwest of the center.

In areas that see rainfall and increased cloud cover, temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal averages into next week, providing some relief from the summer heat. However, much of central and southern Texas, areas in the recovery phase from the catastrophic flooding, will face dangerous heat instead of renewed flooding.

We are entering a hot and muggy stretch with highs warming into the upper 90s and feels like temperatures to 105 degrees. A few clouds are possible Friday into Saturday as a tropical disturbance heads towards Louisiana.
