At an Atlanta rally for reproductive rights at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris quoted Amber Nicole Thurman’s last request to her mother aloud, “Promise me you’ll take care of my son.”

Harris' Atlanta trip follows ProPublica's investigation into the deaths of two Georgia women, which it tied to the state's six-week abortion ban.

"That story was the personification of the Black maternal health crisis," Harris campaign co-chair Sen. Laphonza Butler said of Harris’ retelling of Amber Nicole Thurman’s death at a Georgia campaign event.
