The citywide, at-large city council seat is only on the ballot because the current council member is stepping down for a bid to replace Harris County Judge. Early voting runs through Tuesday, Dec. 9,

Early voting in Harris County begins Monday, Oct. 20, and runs through Friday, Oct. 31, giving residents nearly two weeks to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day on Nov. 4.

State Sen. Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston) took to X earlier this week, blasting Harris County for "STILL allowing many citizens to register to vote using private P.O. boxes." Bettencourt argued such registrations are in direct violation of the law he authored-Senate Bill 1111-which made such action illegal, barring certain qualifications.

Kamin will vacate her city council seat in accordance with Texas' resign-to-run rules, setting up an open seat for her position on the city's largest legislative body.
