Some employees create BIOS passwords to prevent others from using their computers, and then forget to remove the passwords when they leave the company.
The password, along with your other BIOS settings, goes back to the factory defaults. Newer desktop motherboards allow you to reset the BIOS settings using a dedicated jumper on the board itself.
Remove it for a few minutes, place it back in again, button everything up and boot up. You may get a message about the BIOS losing configuration.
