Travel retailer WHSmith is enhancing its collaboration with Toys R Us, planning an additional 37 UK shop-in-shops in the autumn and winter of 2024/25. Following the exclusive launch of the first UK-based Toys R Us shop-in-shop in 2023,

WHSmith disclosed initial Toys R Us roll-out plans earlier this year, and will now launch three every week between the end of September and Christmas. Toys R Us shut its UK stores in 2018 after collapsing into administration but returned in June last year when WHSmith opened the first shop-in-shop in its York Monks Cross branch.

The stationery retailer opened its first UK Toys R Us stores last year, with the Cheltenham High Street store being one of the first. It now has 39 locations.

Toys R Us is to open another 37 new concessions in WHSmith stores before Christmas with three new Toys R Us locations opening every week from September 28 to Christmas. The first 23 new store locations have been announced, starting with Bexleyheath, Eastbourne and Southampton.
