LA MALBAIE, Quebec (AP) — Top diplomats from the Group of 7 industrialized democracies on Friday were wrapping up their final day of talks that have been overshadowed by U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade and foreign policies as well as his repeated taunts toward host Canada.

Beijing, which set steep duties on canola, peas and pork, wants Canada and Mexico to resist U.S. pressure to raise tariffs on Chinese goods.

U.S. tariffs could push allies to forge closer relationships with other countries like China and India, according to former U.S. diplomat Wendy Cutler.
