The New York City mayor's race candidates honed in on fighting crime and prostitution after the mass shooting took quality of life issues front and center.

Three people are dead and nine are injured after multiple shooters opened fire in a New York City lounge, the New York City Police Department says.

Within minutes, officers arrived at 903 Franklin Avenue, finding that nine men and three women, ranging in age from 19 to 61, had been shot. Three men died. One man, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men, 27 and 35, were critically wounded and succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Over the next decade, Bojangles will expand throughout New York, beginning with its inaugural Brooklyn location.

The state says the move will expand protections for swimming and fishing to more than 90% of New York City's waterways.
