There is an axiom around baseball that one can never have too much pitching. The New York Mets are putting their depth to the test early in spring training.

Sean Manaea, who re-signed with the New York Mets this offseason, is now battling an oblique injury which could keep him out of the rotation on Opening Day.

Mets righthander Sean Manaea has a right oblique injury and will be shut down for a couple of weeks, manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday morning. Manaea will start the season on the Injured List. He is the second of the Mets' planned starting pitchers to suffer an injury this spring that will have them out when the Mets open the regular season.
