U.S. Central Command announced new strikes on Iran-linked militants in Syria on Tuesday in response to recent attacks on American personnel in the country.

The U.S. military conducted retaliatory airstrikes Tuesday in Syria, targeting facilities of Iran-backed militias following rockets launched at U.S. forces in the Middle Eastern country.

The strike on an apartment Sunday belonging to the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, reportedly killed nine people including a Hezbollah commander
