This is the weekend we turn the clocks forward. We lose an hour of sleep, but nighttime holds off until later on Sunday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A First Alert Weather Day is in effect for Sunday as our weather team tracks rain and thunderstorms for the remainder of the weekend. After a few showers earlier Saturday, we are dry this afternoon. There will be a few light showers possible this evening mainly south and west of Jacksonville.

A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for the Tri-State Area through Friday afternoon due to wind gusts of 40-50 mph.

Storm chances are also in the forecast before 9 a.m. as a system moves easterly through our region with winds elevated throughout the day.

The drop in temperature behind this cold front has prompted yet another First Alert Weather Day. We’ll go from highs in the upper-70s, to high temperatures around 60 degrees. Also, we’ll have passing showers and thick cloud cover throughout the day, keeping our temperatures from being able to warm up.

Our winds will also be a bit breezy, but nothing like we saw Tuesday night and into Wednesday. The National Weather Service has put much of Siouxland under a Winter Weather Advisory starting this evening until 6 PM Friday. We will likely see this Winter Weather Advisory be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning.

Winter is not over yet in Florida, as a cold front is set to move in on Wednesday, with a line of rain and storms bringing a risk of severe weather. Follow wildfire updates in North and South Carolina, where blazes erupted over the weekend. The largest stemmed from a forest fire near Myrtle Beach.

The upcoming week is shaping up to be mostly dry, but temperatures will fluctuate a bit.Clouds are common on Saturday morning to early afternoon as a clipper system produces snow showers in the Northwoods.
