Mao Saigo won the Chevron Championship in a record-breaking five-way playoff, claiming her maiden major title with a clutch birdie putt.

Mao Saigo won her first LPGA tournament on Sunday, and it happened to be a major. The Japanese player won the Chevron Championship after a five-way playoff. Winning the tournament meant Saigo had to indulge in the Chevron Championship's decades-long tradition of jumping into the pond at the Nicklaus Course at The Club at Carlton Woods.

Saigo became the first LPGA player to earn her first victory at a major championship since Allisen Corpuz did at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach. She also is the firs
