Russian forces intensified attacks on Ukraine’s logistics infrastructure over 24 hours, with railway facilities emerging as the primary target, according to a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Five people died in the attack in northeastern Ukraine when three drones targeted the train.
The train had been operating from Chop, near Ukraine‘s western borders with Hungary and Slovakia, to the town of Barvinkove.
Japan has delivered domestically produced rails to Ukraine to help it restore transport networks severely damaged by Russian attacks.

At least five people were killed in a Russian drone strike on a civilian train in northeastern Ukraine, the country’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said, describing the attack as an “act of terrorism.”
The state-run railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) has recorded Russian drone activity near its infrastructure along the Zaporizhzhia-Dnipro route and has decided to transport passengers in both directions by bus.
