It wasn't until Michelle Newton was in her mid-40s that she discovered she was a missing child who disappeared from Louisville, Ky in 1983. Now, her family was brought back together over 40 years later.
Shardee McGill and Janae McGill were reported missing on Sept. 23. Their bodies were pulled from the Tombigbee River.
According to police, officers were called at about 8:25 p.m. to the Magnolia Pointe area in response to the missing child. They were told the 3-year-old had autism and had been missing for about 30 minutes. The child's parents had been looking for them for about 30 minutes prior to police arrival.
Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones said Shardee McGill, 32, and her 3-year-old daughter, Janae, were reported missing Sept. 29 by Johnathan McGill, the husband and father. Johnathan McGill told police that his wife and daughter left the family's Northeast Jackson home the day before and never returned.
