Lake-effect snow has already caused blizzard conditions in parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania and western New York could also potentially receive over a foot of snow downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario.

Two winter systems are coming together across the northern U.S. this week, bringing the potential for heavy snow and strong winds across the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest.

Strong winds gusting to 50 mph combined with heavy snow are creating whiteout conditions and making travel extremely hazardous.

Snow and chilly temperatures have already greeted some Thanksgiving travelers and plenty more could be on its way this holiday weekend.
