A new winter storm is on the horizon, and it could bring heavy snow and ice to the Central U.S. before taking aim at the East Coast. Here's what you need to know.

A massive, severe storm system that's slamming the U.S. Northeast with heavy snow has this weekend triggered flash flood warnings in West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky, where officials reported at least eight deaths.

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A winter storm will leave behind several inches of snow by the time it moves out Tuesday night. Heaviest will occur Tuesday morning and through the early afternoon, with widespread 4-8 inches across central and southern Kansas, but even higher totals are likely southeast of the Turnpike.

Storm conditions clear from Western Colorado this morning. Heavy snowfall fell over portions of the high country. The winter storm has moved to the eastern plains and will exit Colorado through the eastern border.

This week’s winter storm comes on the heel of a storm in the Kentucky-area that brought flash flooding and killed at least 10 people.
