LYON COUNTY, NV - A 4.8 magnitude quake occurred close to Silver Springs on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit near Cooter, Missouri, on Thursday, sending tremors into northeast Arkansas, which lies within the New Madrid Seismic Zone, one of the most active seismic zones in the United States.

The earthquake was felt from just west of St. Louis, Missouri southeastward through northern Alabama. In Middle Tennessee, as of 4:30 pm Thursday, people had reported feeling it in Clarksville, Chapel Hill, and Ardmore. The sensation was described as minor shaking with no damage.
