Republican North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis will not seek reelection, according to a statement released by his office Sunday afternoon.

"Leaders who are willing to embrace bipartisanship, compromise, and demonstrate independent thinking are becoming an endangered species," the senator wrote in a statement
