The Denver Broncos had a busy week before their preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints. First, the team placed backup offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo ( knee) on injured reserve. After that, Denver filled Gargiulo's former spot on the active roster by signing veteran fullback Adam Prentice.

Vele, a seventh-round pick out of Utah in 2024, had a productive rookie season, recording 41 receptions for 475 yards and three touchdowns. While he likely would have gotten plenty of reps this year, ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that the strong play of Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant during training camp has made Vele "expendable."
