Jo Shimoda captured the top spot in the 250 Class Saturday finishing second in the first moto and first in the second moto. Season leader Haiden Deegan was second with a 1-2 finish.
Shimoda was unable to finish, allowing Deegan to move into second place. With no pressure from behind, Kitchen cruised home with his fifth moto win of his career, outdistancing Deegan by 15.6.
The team says that Shimoda is expected to return from his injury for the first SMX round, but this has not yet been confirmed. Jo placed 2nd last year in the inaugural SMX championship series.
As for the 250, Jo Shimoda of Japan also swept the RedBud Nationals. He joined Haiden Deegan and Chance Hymas both as overall winners and sweepers of a national.
