British consumer group Which? will launch legal action against Apple on Thursday, alleging the tech giant breached competition law by effectively locking millions of its customers into its iCloud service.
Apple sued by Which? over iCloud use - with potential payout for 40 million UK customers
Which? has filed a lawsuit against the iPhone provider, alleging the company forces its customers to use its iCloud services. If the company is found to have broken the rules, around 40 million UK Apple customers could get a payout.
Apple Faces $3.8 Billion Antitrust Legal Claim Over iCloud
The group also claimed that Apple overcharged users for iCloud subscriptions. Users get up to 5 gigabytes of free storage, but Apple charges a subscription for added capacity. The group filed its suit to the U.K.'s Competition Appeal Tribunal seeking compensation for customers who have used iCloud since October 2015.
