The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a safety warning over fake Labubu dolls, which pose a choking hazard and can break apart easily, releasing small pieces.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued an “urgent” warning Monday about knockoff Labubu dolls posing a “serious risk of choking and death to young children.” The warning only applies to fake versions of the Labubu dolls — sometimes referred to as “Lafufu dolls” — which are sold as plush figures and plush keychains.

The CPSC says the fake Labubu plush figures and plush key chains are small enough that a young child could put one in their mouth and block their airway, creating a risk of choking and death. The agency also reported instances of the counterfeit toys breaking apart and releasing small pieces that could become ingestion or choking hazards.
