The rescue operation in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district has officially concluded, with all 54 trapped workers accounted for. While 46 people were rescued alive, eight tragically lost their lives in the disaster.

According to the Indian Army, 46 out of the 54 BRO workers were rescued and are undergoing treatment, while 8 people lost their lives in the avalanche.

"Out of the 54 labourers who went missing after the avalanche, 46 were rescued alive and eight found dead," Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said

Five BRO workers are still trapped in the avalanche that hit Chamoli's Mana village on Friday. The SDRF has flown to Joshimath with a Victim Locating and Thermal Image Camera to intensify the rescue operation.

The bodies of three labourers were pulled out from the avalanche-hit Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp in Chamoli on Sunday, bringing the death toll to seven, while efforts were on to rescue another missing worker on the third day of the operation.

Eight labourers have been confirmed dead following an avalanche in Uttarakhand, while 46 were successfully rescued. The nearly 60-hour rescue operation involved over 200 personnel and advanced equipment.
